Consulting is performed as an independent outside activity in accordance with UW–Madison's outside-activities policies — on personal time, without university resources, and never in competition with the Data Science Institute's services to campus. If your project is UW–Madison-affiliated, the right path is usually through DSI directly, and I'm happy to point you there.
